Stimulant ADHD medications (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, Vyvanse) cause life-threatening agitation.
Even tiny doses can cause severe symptoms because dogs are extremely sensitive to amphetamines.
Amphetamines and methylphenidate increase release of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin while blocking their reuptake. This produces dangerously high heart rates, blood pressure and body temperature. Seizures, cardiac arrhythmias and disseminated intravascular coagulation can develop.
