1. About the Platform

Wiggly Tails ("Wiggly Tails") is a platform connecting verified rescue organizations across Europe with potential adopters. We facilitate discovery and communication — we are not a party to any adoption agreement between rescues and adopters.

2. User Accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
• One person may not maintain multiple accounts
• You agree to provide accurate and truthful information

3. Rescue Organizations

Rescue organizations using our platform agree to:

• Provide accurate information about their organization and animals
• Maintain valid permits where required (e.g., §11 TierSchG in Germany, SIAC in Portugal)
• Comply with all applicable animal welfare laws in their jurisdiction
• Respond to adoption inquiries in a timely manner
• Not list animals that are not genuinely available for adoption
• Keep animal profiles up to date, especially regarding adoption status

4. Adopters

Potential adopters using our platform agree to:

• Provide truthful information in adoption applications
• Understand that submitting an application does not guarantee adoption
• Respect the rescue organization's screening process and timeline
• Not misrepresent their living situation, experience, or intentions

5. Content Guidelines

• Do not post misleading, fraudulent, or harmful content
• Do not upload content that infringes third-party intellectual property
• Do not use the platform for commercial breeding or puppy trading
• Reviews must be honest and based on genuine experience

6. Automatic Translation of Content

To make rescue listings accessible across Europe, public content on Wiggly Tails — dog stories, news posts, sponsor updates and their comments, rescue and community descriptions, blog guides, and safety articles — is automatically translated into the platform's supported languages by Mistral AI, an EU-based AI provider headquartered in Paris, France. Private messages between adopters and rescues and adoption-application answers are not sent for translation.

• Translations are produced by an AI system and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or stylistic differences from the original.
• The version written by the original author (typically English) is the authoritative version. In case of any discrepancy, the original prevails.
• If you spot an incorrect translation, please report it to privacy@wiggly-tails.eu so we can correct it.
• By posting public content on Wiggly Tails, you agree that your text may be processed by our EU-based translation provider for the sole purpose of producing multi-language versions on the platform. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Liability

Wiggly Tails acts as an intermediary platform. We do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by rescue organizations, nor the accuracy of machine translations of that information. We are not liable for any disputes, injuries, or damages arising from interactions between rescues and adopters. Each adoption is a direct agreement between the rescue organization and the adopter.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, post fraudulent content, or misuse the platform. Users may delete their accounts at any time through the settings page.

8. Privacy & Analytics

Your use of Wiggly Tails is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We keep data collection to a minimum. To understand which pages help people find rescues, we use Umami — a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool we host ourselves in the EU. It sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and never tracks you across other websites. We also use Google Search Console to see how the site performs in Google Search (search terms, clicks, impressions, and which pages are indexed). Search Console provides aggregate, anonymised search-performance reporting only — it places no tracking on this site and does not mean Google Analytics is installed. We do not use advertising profiling or marketing cookies.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Berlin, Germany.

10. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Users will be notified of material changes via email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
