Rodenticides are among the most common causes of pet poisoning fatalities.
Different products work very differently — bring the packaging to the vet so they know what to treat.
Anticoagulant rodenticides (brodifacoum, bromadiolone) inhibit vitamin K recycling, causing fatal internal bleeding 3–7 days after ingestion. Bromethalin causes cerebral edema. Cholecalciferol causes hypercalcemia and kidney failure. Zinc and aluminium phosphides release phosphine gas. All are serious emergencies.

Any suspected ingestion is an emergency. Vitamin K reverses anticoagulant rodenticides only if started promptly. There is no antidote for bromethalin.
Contacte de inmediato con su veterinario o con una línea de emergencia de intoxicaciones para animales. No provoque el vómito a menos que se lo indique un veterinario.
