Kalanchoe is a colourful houseplant — but its cardiac glycosides can cause heart arrhythmias.
Sometimes sold as 'mother of millions' or 'devil's backbone'.
Kalanchoe contains bufadienolide cardiac glycosides which, like those in foxglove and oleander, inhibit cardiac Na+/K+ ATPase. Toxic doses can cause severe vomiting and arrhythmias, though most exposures result only in GI signs.

Most ingestions cause vomiting; cardiac effects are rare but require urgent vet care if they occur.
Contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal poison hotline immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed by a vet.
