Hops — used in home brewing — can trigger malignant hyperthermia in dogs.
Both fresh hop cones and spent (used) hops are toxic. Greyhounds and other sighthounds are especially vulnerable.
The exact toxin is unknown but is thought to be a phenolic compound, essential oil or resin in the cones. It triggers an uncontrolled rise in body temperature (malignant hyperthermia) that can damage the brain, kidneys and muscles within hours of ingestion. Mortality without treatment is high.

Even a handful of spent hops from a homebrew kit has been fatal in small dogs. Any ingestion warrants immediate veterinary attention.
Contacte imediatamente o seu veterinário ou uma linha de emergência para envenenamento animal. Não induza o vómito a menos que seja indicado por um veterinário.
