Eucalyptus essential oil causes drooling, vomiting and respiratory irritation in dogs.
Vapors from diffusers can irritate dogs with respiratory disease.
Eucalyptus oil contains 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) which depresses the central nervous system and irritates mucous membranes. Skin absorption and inhalation both contribute to toxicity. Dogs may develop ataxia and respiratory depression with significant exposure.

Even small amounts of undiluted oil applied to skin or licked can cause signs. Diffuser use should be in well-ventilated areas the dog can leave.
