All forms of cannabis — buds, oils, edibles, even second-hand smoke — are toxic to dogs.
Dogs are extremely sensitive to THC. Edibles are especially dangerous because they often also contain chocolate or xylitol.
THC binds CB1 and CB2 receptors in the canine brain and gut. Because dogs have a higher density of cannabinoid receptors than humans, even modest doses cause severe ataxia, urinary incontinence, and reactions to stimuli. Fatalities are rare but occur, particularly with concentrated edibles or oils.
Surse
The minimum lethal oral dose is around 3 g/kg of plant material, but clinical toxicity is seen at much lower doses, especially with concentrated edibles. Always disclose cannabis exposure to your vet — they need to know to treat correctly.
