Raw or undercooked meat, eggs and bones can carry harmful bacteria and parasites.
Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and Campylobacter can colonise raw meat. Cooked bones also splinter easily and cause severe internal injuries.
Pathogenic bacteria on raw meat can make both dogs and the humans handling their food sick. Cooked bones lose moisture and become brittle, splintering into sharp fragments that can perforate the esophagus, stomach or intestines. Raw bones are less likely to splinter but can still fracture teeth and cause obstructions.
